Sleep Disorders and Their Impact in the Workplace

This session will discuss the impact sleep disorders on workplace safety and productivity. Some specific topics will include the impact of untreated OSA on drivers and the effect of shift work disorder in rail operations. Recent research on fatigue and shift work will also be presented.

Learning Objectives:
- Describe recent research and resources from NIOSH on the impact of sleep disorders/fatigue on the workplace
- Describe the impact of sleep disorders/fatigue on transportation safety as evaluated by the NTSB
- Consider options for evaluated safety and other workplace issues in those with sleep disorders.
